Valit walked through the Edin Forest, eyes focused on his light-footed steps. The short man was currently looking for a job. As a monster hunter, he usually spent a great deal of his time in the forest. This was mainly for convenience sake, as it was much easier to find the people he was sent to kill out here.

Vaus' eye shifted around warily. Some might have thought his caution in such a place unnecessary, but he knew that even deep in the forest, even in the most secretive of places, he still was not safe....
A bird let out a screech, and Vaus jumped, his eyes widening and his hand flying to his knife. Realizing it was only a bird, he blinked and let out a sigh. He stepped backwards and leaned against a tree, sliding down it until he sat on the leaves underneath with his knees pulled up to his chest. Ugh...maybe I just think too much... He looked up, glanced around, and after a second he pulled his gloves off. He stared at the markings that covered them, turning his hand, opening and closing his palms. After a few minutes of starting at his hands, he sighed in exasperation and his head fell on his knees.

Valit was never the greatest of guys, but the he wasn't one to be feared out in the forest. Even with his job as a merciless monster hunter, the man wasn't even close to being the most aggressive person to walk these paths. Valit's steps were light-footed and rather small, each one set up so that minimal noise came from his walking. These was little he feared more than being killed out in the forest, after all, who was out here to hear him scream? He wasn't exactly taken kindly by the kingdoms, and he certainly wouldn't be surprised if someone was sent out to get rid of him.
Valit didn't wander the forest for long before he made it to the shapeshifter boy. It was a surprise for him to see Vaus sitting there, not exactly used to seeing people out so deep in the forest. He didn't speak, simply stared at the other person with a blank expression on his face.

Thoughts swarming in his head, Vaus squeezed his eyes shut and tried emptying them, to no avail. As he desperately tried to prevent the silence from bringing up things he would rather not dwell on, he didn't catch the soft sounds of footsteps close-by. He sighed and lifted his head up, and his breath caught in his throat when he saw someone was standing there, in front of him. Panic rushed through him, eyes locked with the stranger. He then remembered his bare hands, which he shoved into his cloak and pulled his gloves onto. After breaking the man's gaze, he regained his composure and stood up //towering over the man. He clenched his teeth together. Whether this person was kind-hearted (and didn't quite look like it) or not, Vaus had no interest in talking to them. After all, any relationship with him would end badly. He couldn't live a normal life. He wasn't allowed to. After all, he wasn't normal. "Excuse me." Vaus looked down and started walking past, off deeper into the forest.

Valit let out a small groan as the younger man got up and began to leave the area. He had been in situations like this, and he certainly didn't favor them. In fact, last time he was stuck dealing with someone who seemed to want to avoid him he ended up stabbing the women. Good times. The man followed Vaus closely behind, honestly not giving two shits if he was making the shape-shifter uncomfortable by doing so.
He raced forward so that he was in front of the much taller man, spreading his arms out as if to say 'stop moving'. (though this display was quite pathetic considering the size difference between the two) "Why are you out here, kid?" Valit questioned, examining the man's face.

Vaus' eyes drifted down as he strode past the stranger. He pressured his mind to not dwell on his decision. The prospect of finally not being alone didn't matter. Being alone was the only way he could avoid harm to himself and others. He bit his lip and trudged on, burying his thoughts. He then noticed the sound of the man's footsteps behind him, and quickly glanced back, then straightened his gaze forward. Why..is he following me? Vaus began to panic. Does he know? He must have saw my hands, he must know, he must want to kill me- His heart pounded and he started to sweat. Then suddenly there was a shadow in front of him, and he jerked his head up and stopped in his tracks, almost running into...that stranger.
His arms were stretched out, looking as if he was trying to stop him. ...Why am I out here? Ha... If only that could be answered so simply... Vaus feigned a glare at the man. "I just am. Why should you care...?" He flicked his eyes away, not looking at the stranger. Why would he care? Is it all some ruse? ...Does he not know? It doesn't matter. Vaus mentally shook himself. It will never matter...

Valit quickly took in as much of this tall stranger as he could, bright green eyes flickering from spot to spot rapidly. He paused soon after, one eyebrow raising, noticing a sort of..nervousness from Vaus. Valit pulled his arms closer to his torso, holding his hands up in front of himself as if to say 'hey, I'm not going to hurt you.'
"Well, it's not exactly very common to find someone this deep in the forest." He said slowly, gently. Valit neither favored nor disliked his aggressive behavior, perhaps he was used to such a thing. Perhaps it was because he himself tended to be quite hostile. Not now, yes, but usually.
