Miora her head. "Still makes me nervous. I don't like the thought of there being more than one of me scrambling around, muddying my good name. Because as you know many name is thus far spotless and very valuable." As if. But it was fun to pretend. "I suppose I'd never know if I'd met one then."
Miora rubbed the back of her neck as the vampire scratched his head, then smiled to herself at the symmetry. "I suppose if you need that much that's unfortunate. And it's a hassle and a hazard probably to be nibbling on multiple people per, ah, meal." It must be awful lonely not to get along with one's own people. She didn't get along with people her own age, which she supposed was similar. But she'd likely grow out of that; one didn't grow out of their own people. "I suppose your particular needs don't really engender trust to begin with." But there was really no fixing that.
Miora groaned and rolled her eyes as he scrubbed her hair again, not that wet hair could be easily rumpled. "Have you always been this affectionate or do you just like me more than you let on?" To his statement she just had to laugh. "Oh because you expect I typically converse with vampires? This hasn't exactly been my typical day you know. Once you leave I don't know how I'll go back to the doldrums of ordinary everyday life."
(Not on par today sorry.)

Valit gave a short nod of agreement, "They blend in, I think. Who knows, I've only met one in my entire life." he didn't like the idea of someone taking his identity, either, but he honestly couldn't imagine someone thinking of taking a mercenary's identity. It made as much of sense as someone taking this girl's identity- completely unreasonable. He liked the thought of himself being a shape-shifter, however, the simple thought of being able to take any form is quite appealing. The idea of being hunted down further, however, did not.
"The most uncomfortable need all day. Real food seems to subside the aching need, but it's no alternative. I need both." he made a groan, pulling his head back to increase the effect. He hated having to feed- and honestly, he didn't know if real food was still necessary. He still ate- he never stopped. Out of fear, one would assume. "Not to mention the fact that most people don't like the idea of being bitten and fed on. That's why we hate mosquitoes, they're irritating and rude."
Valit let out a laugh, this was definitely true. Most people wouldn't consider encounters like this to be a quite the regular day. "Well, I'm probably going to hit up a market and buy some grub before night falls. Do you want to come?" he offered, though he felt a bit silly. Why would she want to come? They had just met. Though he wasn't entirely sure that she would pass up the chance to get another free meal from him. The fact that he was offering it, though, was surprising. Money was sacred to him- but he certainly wasn't in his usual mindset.
(Don't worry about it dear uvu)

Miora tipped her head sideways in acknowledgement and agreement. "I suppose there are benefits and downfalls to everything. Being hungry does nothing to support my ladylike and courteous demeanor, but at least I don't have to worry about my trim figure." She rolled her eyes. Nobles worried about so many things that they simply didn't need to. Half of them were utter fools, she was convinced. "At least you're not terribly irritating or rude," she pointed out. "Thus far." Since he still had the freedom to become so if he so wished. "Then again you haven't tried to nibble on me yet, just threatened, and that's fair enough I suppose."
If he was going to the market perhaps he'd share a bit of what he bought, so Miora was glad to accompany him. Besides she was still enjoying his strange conversation. "Sure. I like the way the market smells. Do you know where it is? If you hate this city so much I can't imagine you've spent the time to either walk many of its streets or memorize its map. I can find the snot on a mouse's whisker in this city though, so if you get lost at least I'll know where to find you." She started off. "Have you been to all the cities on the island? Have you been off the island? I've never seen the ocean but I'd like to. Any large body of water I think would be fascinating to see, really. I still like water, despite all reasons not to." She scraped wet hair back from her face and flicked it onto her back. It was still warm enough--and her long acclimated enough--for her not to be too cold yet, though the evenings got cool for her in all seasons but high summer.

Valit had luckily been able to prey on a traveler this morning before his set foot in the city walls. Had he not been given this sublime opportunity, perhaps that statement would've been untrue. He had no desire to bite her- so he assumed he could leave the city without committing the act. He hated doing it with so many eyes nearby, who knew what kind of person would see him doing such a thing. "I doubt that I'll be 'nibbling' on you anytime soon." he assured, giving a small laugh towards the end. Would she believe the vampire? He hardly believed it- he honestly couldn't blame her if she didn't trust him. Especially considering they had met only today. This was hard for him to remember, she had certainly grown on him.
He was slightly relieved to hear she would be accompanying him to the market, not entirely ready to leave and continue his fugitive life. Valit rarely got a good conversation, so this wasn't something he was eager to leave. "I think I remember. I've visited before, but it was a year or two ago.." he mumbled, glancing around before heading down a narrow street. While he though this was the way, he wasn't certain he knew the way. It was simply a guess.
"On the island? I haven't quite visited them all. I believe the ones I've missed are Umitera, Edin, and Aberline." he admitted, rubbing the back of his head as he strided down the city streets. All of which were in Myrciliydla. He might have kept a bit of a disgust for the kingdom, considering he originated from Thymenos and even worked for them as a knight. Valit has his preferences, and his kingdom was certainly not something he preferred to be in. This came with its advantages, though, as fewer people recognized him. "As for outside the island itself, only once or twice on knight-ly business. The ocean is quite gorgeous, I must admit I love to swim. Boats are nice, if you don't get motion sickness." he purred, staring off in the distance.

"I appreciate it. If ever you feel the impulse at least give me a head start; it's the only fair thing to do." She walked with him for a block or two then gave the side of his shirt a tug. "It's more this way. What're you after? There's different places for meat, breads, baking needs, crops and full meals." She considered a moment. "I guess you don't need the baking needs. At least I hope that's not all you're eating. Seems difficult."
When they reached the chosen area of the market, or at least where he'd start, Miora sighed at the smell of all the food, all of it in some stage of being cooked or baked. "They overcharge and their recipe's no better than most everybody else's, they just use more egg glaze on their buns to make them shine," she told him, since nobody knew the market better than a merchant-born-turned street-rat. "If you like fish I don't know what they do with theirs but they sell to the nobility on the sly. If the nobles knew their fish came from a wooden stall they'd pitch a sooty snot but the servants know better than to tell them the truth. They're good servants. The truth isn't always the best." It was for her--Miora always wanted to know the truth, so she could decide from there what to do and what to think. But for people with lives that weren't always scraping bottom they didn't need to know what swam below them. For Miora and those like her everything swam above, so it was to her benefit to see and know all she could.
"What's past the island? I haven't read up on it in a long time and don't remember too much." As they stepped past a particularly harried baker Miora snuck a lopsided biscuit out of the discount basket and into her apron pocket, but for the sake of propriety she didn't take it out again and start eating it until she was out of sight of the baker, who may recognize it. Miora was slightly less watched--being a barefoot child and recognized by most everyone in town, on account of her curse--since she was clearly in the company of an adult. People expected adults to look after the children in their company. No one expected her to be up to her usual--if grudging--tricks with Valit at her side.

Valit flushed in embarrassment when she had to lead him closer to the direction of the market area, eyes watching the ground gently and carefully. It made sense that he hadn't remembered the path, this town was large and full of twists and turns. He honestly understood the forest much more than any city, excluding his home town, of course. "Gosh, honestly I couldn't care less what I get into my system. I'm starved- anything will do." he admitted, giving a small, almost-nervous smile. Valit scanned the area with careful, calculating eyes, attempting to get a good picture of the town in his head.
He gave a nod when she explaining such things to the man. For the most part, he was quite ignorant of what the merchants chose to do with their products, or how they sell them. He was born the son of a knight- and became a knight. His entire life his work involved swords and daggers, not selling and trading. It was nice to hear some of the information about the stands before he chose one, though he wasn't the most concerned over prices when the smell of food made his knees weak.
It wasn't long before he found a generally diverse stand, with both breads and meats being sold. These were his two favorite kinds of food, as they gave him more energy than, say, an apple or two. He decided to reply to a few of her questions before buying his meal for the day, and more. He wouldn't buy many perishable items, out of fear of eating something disgusting on the way to the next town. "Past the island..." he hummed happily, eyes closing and he dug through his brain for some information. "It's not quite as forested as our island is. They have silly accents- certainly not like our own. Not very many races other than the usual humans." admittedly, this made him much more comfortable than the idea of dragons and what-not flying around.
He turned to the stand-owner, flashing his fangs quickly to show that wasn't interested in idle chit-chat. Though it mostly was for viewing the reaction given by the merchant. The shiver that the merchant gave made it quite worth it. "Give me a venison leg, two grilled fish and some bread."
The merchant began to grab what he wanted, but before he could finish grabbing the entire order Valit added, "and whatever the girl wishes."

Miora was slightly surprised when he accepted her inputs toward which vendors to lead toward--evidently he had money, even if he didn't really dress like it, so she almost habitually expected him to be a snob even though he'd never expressed any snobbish traits. Or at least not yet. Hearing that there were fewer non-human residents in other locales made her want to visit them, because frankly this vampire, even being proven as not as bloodthirsty as the tales claimed, still frightened her, if only just a bit. It worried her that there were people who didn't belong to her race that could go unnoticed among them. It was like a goat hiding among a herd of deer but in such a faultless disguise none of them would ever know unless he wanted them too. It was all a form of lying, and while she couldn't hate them for being what they were, that didn't mean she could fully trust them either.
When he chose a stand and let a bit of tooth show Miora sighed to herself and rolled his eyes. So much for being subtle. This one was lucky to still be alive if he exposed what he was to everyone he spoke to. That caught her in a bit of a double standard, wanting to know who was what, but she supposed she wanted Valit to survive regardless of what he was. Perhaps it was only fair, then, that some of the other-people were able to hide what they were. It was too bad then that the bad ones could hide right along with them.
She lifted one eyebrow at the vampire at his side when he said she was welcome to get some food too. She already had some of his money--not that she intended to let him know that--but this continued generosity still struck her as strange, as she had yet to experience it from anyone else. "A fried perch please," she said, knowing that the fried foods had more oil in them, and therefore a little more energy for her to run on. Plus she liked the taste. She nudged Valit's hip with her elbow. "Thanks." She stretched her arms across the seller's front counter to accept the paper-wrapped fish he'd separated for her. "So where you headed after this?" She unwrapped a corner of the fish and began nibbling at it, eating this one as slowly as she could to make it last, and because it convinced her stomach it was full faster that way, saving more food for later. Miora didn't get meat much, so she wanted to savor this and stretch it as far as possible. "Also why bother with startling the average person? That's two people you've exposed yourself to in only an hour or two. I can understand why you did it to me and I'm not a threat to you anyway. But why him? Maybe he's going to get his blokes together and come after you. Torches and pitch forks, and all of that."

Valit gave a short nod to her thanks, not really concerned for how she felt upon the thing. It was partially courtesy, which the vampire did have, surprisingly, and a sort of worry. How long would she last out here? He supposed a while, considering how she seemed to be fending now. The question upon where he was going next wasn't one he knew the answer to. He gave a small shrug, "I suppose to one of the other Myrciliydla cities. After all, I haven't yet to explore each one thoroughly. Though my traveling has less to do with my choice, and more to do with where work takes me." he admits, letting out a sigh. "Due to the lack of a current job to fufill, I suppose I'm left to my own accord for once." This slightly worried the man, but he didn't dwell on it. He will get another target sooner or later, and if not.. He could always take up something different for some change.
"I'm feeling a bit risky today. I don't see why I shouldn't scare someone, if a human does its not considered so bad. It's mostly because I like to see people's reactions, though. It's a horrendously immature and frankly dangerous hobby, but watching people after I spook them a bit keeps my heart pumping." he told her, glancing down at the venison leg, pulling a bit of it off and plopping the meat into his mouth. He chewed slowly, it had been a while since he had a venison, due to the meat being more expensive than fish or chicken. "It's also a reason for me to leave. Force myself, if you will. I want people to get used to vampire, however. We aren't some crazy race of monsters or anything, and any human can be bit." he furrowed his brow, teeth clamping down on to his lip once he stopped speaking, though it wasn't soon before he spoke up again. "Either way it's practice running. I get chased out ever now and then, for being a vampire or for my occupation. I'm used to it."

"I suppose it's difficult to thoroughly explore one location through one unbroken stretch of time when you're attempting not to be recognized. Shifty-looking fellows like yourself stick in peoples' minds. I suppose you could come and go, but that seems a lot like starting and stopping, and is probably not as fun."
Miora continued nibbling at her bit of fish, making the very absolute most out of it as was possible. "You say that like the average human risks being mobbed and staked for showing their teeth to someone," she pointed out, blinking, and wondering if he'd thought this entirely through. Probably not. It didn't seem like one of his talents. Probably he did it every now and again. but she hadn't seen too much evidence of it today. "That makes sense," she admitted, glad to find evidence that his thoughts. "I bet you're a fast runner though regardless."
{I've got nothing more. Wanna bring it to a close? in the next pair?}
